Paulie's chain was a challenge to remake. There are thousands of cross necklaces out there, so what makes Paulie's unique? For one, Paulie is one of the few characters in the show to wear a rope chain rather than a figaro or curb chain, and his cross pendant is very unique. In S1E11, "Nobody Knows Anything," Paulie attempts to get Sal to join him in the shvitz, and in this scene we get a good glimpse of his pendant, which sits right at chest level, specifically where his white undershirt meets his chest. We then analyzed S5E3, "Where's Johnny," where Feech and Paulie have a sit down about who does the lawns in the neighborhood, and it was in this scene where we narrowed down our design: Paulie's cross has a rugged texture, and the sides of the cross are asymmetric. Paulie's pendant is not meant to look like a sleek gold cross we see a lot of — it is a representation of how the cross could've looked in real life, with a rugged texture and uneven sides. Ironically, what started as a simple cross pendant ended up being our most challenging piece to redesign.
